Member Duties : The key objective of the VISTA Leader is to serve as a mentor, coach, and team leader to 4 VISTA members and assist staff in managing and supporting the work of the SLATE-Z backbone team.

VISTA Leader Responsibilities: Ensure VISTA members meet objectives of supporting Work Groups; Implement a comprehensive communication plan; Support data collection and analysis; Organize partners in garnering resources for SLATE-Z related-work; Design capacity building programs. The VISTA Leader will coordinate regular backbone team check-ins; Assist staff with tracking backbone team progress by developing a system to share activities & outcomes; Draft weekly/monthly reports; Identify VISTA training needs & connect them to opportunities in LA/coordinate bimonthly training events; Provide support in writing/completing an annual report to HUD; Support staff in coordinating quarterly Steering Committee meetings. The VISTA Leader will be assigned to at least one of SLATE-Z’s five issue-based Work Groups.

Member Duties : The key objective of the Resource Development VISTA is to support SLATE-Z’s activities in garnering financial resources needed to fulfill its 10-year plan.

Resource Development VISTA Responsibilities: Research & identify relevant federal/state/private grant opportunities; Answer Promise Zone (PZ) Preference Points inquiries, conduct due diligence on grants requests & prepare PZ Certification forms & letters of support; Track SLATE-Z’s grant activities on a spreadsheet; Schedule calls/meetings with partners on funding opportunities & obtain proposal copies, award letters and progress reports on grants; Create a template & prepare 1-page summaries of SLATE-Z grant applications; Research funding opportunities to distribute in a weekly bulletin & maintain a resource list; Coordinate capacity building programs (i.e webinars/trainings on grant proposals). The Resource Development VISTA will also be assigned to support coordination of at least one of SLATE-Z’s five issue-based Work Groups.
